In a large pot or dutch oven over medium high heat, brown the ground beef and pork sausage with a little olive oil until no longer pink. 

Step 1

Add the garlic and onion. Cook for 5 minutes or until the onion is tender. Add the spices and black eyed peas to the pot. Stir and cook 5 minutes.

Step 2

Pour in the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, and beef broth. Stir to combine. Bring to a boil and reduce heat to a simmer.
