Cast iron skillet cornbread is a wonderful side dish to so many meals. It pairs perfectly with everything from barbecue ribs, to soups, stews, chili, and even grilled meats!

Ingredients

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 425F. Place 2 tablespoons oil in the skillet, turn to coat the bottom and place in the oven.

In a large bowl, combine the cornmeal mix, vegetable oil, the milk, and the egg. Mix until just combined. Do Not Over Mix.

Step 2

Carefully remove the hot skillet from the oven. Gently pour the batter into the hot cast iron pan.
