Leftovers then breakfast

Crack Green Beans

When I make these smothered green beans, a.k.a. crack green beans, for our holiday dinners, everyone asks for the recipe! This vintage side dish is an absolutely delicious recipe with only a few simple ingredients.

Perfect for your next potluck dinner, dinner party, or easy family dinner.

In a large skillet, over medium heat, melt bacon fat and butter. Add onion and garlic. Cook for 4 minutes, stirring often, until the onions get soft.

Step 1

Add the brown sugar, soy sauce, and chicken broth to the pan. Whisk to combine. Stir in green beans, reduce heat, and simmer over low heat until the liquid is nearly gone.

Step 2

Add the crispy bacon pieces to the green beans and cook for an additional 4 minutes.
