Homemade Bisquick Mix

Homemade Bisquick is easy to make at home. In less than 5 minutes you can have an all purpose baking mix that is a lot cheaper than store bought.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 cup butter or shortening cubed, chilled

Instructions

  • Hand Method
  • Whisk together flour, baking powder and salt.
  • Cut butter into flour mixture using a pastry blender or fork.
  • Transfer to airtight container and store in refrigerator for up to 3 months.
  • Food Processor Method
  • Add flour, baking powder and salt to food processor. Pulse to combine.
  • Add butter and pulse until mixture is coarse and resembles cornmeal.
  • Transfer to airtight container and store in refrigerator for up to 3 months.

Notes

  • to make muffins: 2 cups baking mix, 2/3 cup milk, 2 tbsp oil, 1 egg, 1/3 cup sugar, chips or nuts to mix in.
  • for drop biscuits: 2/3 cup milk, 2 1/4 cups baking mix.
  • to make waffles: 1 1/3 cup milk, 1 egg, 2 tbsp oil, 2 cups baking mix.
  • for pancakes: 1 cup milk, 2 eggs, 2 cups baking mix.
