Ingredients

  • cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons white distilled vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons tahini
  • 1-2 teaspoons chili sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients to a small saucepan and whisk to combine.
  • Heat over medium-low heat until honey melts and flavors come together.
  • Store in airtight container in refrigerator until ready to use.

Notes

  • You can use Hoisin sauce for any Asian recipe you are putting together that has a sweet and spicy flavor combination, as well as on its own.
  • Make a double batch and share with neighbors and family!
  • Traditional hoisin sauce doesn but I don't put Chinese five-spice powder in mine but if you like the flavor feel free to add a pinch or two.
  • If you need a hoisin sauce substitute, try soybean paste or BBQ molasses.
